Dimensions of Sprocket

Sprockets may be classified into conventional sprockets, HK sprockets and various sprockets.
1. Common sprocket
Regular sprockets are ANSI sprockets which could be engaged with typical series roller chains. See P125 for dimensions.
You will discover two forms of tooth profiles: U-tooth and S-tooth.
two. HK sprocket
HK sprockets might be engaged with HK series roller chains, and individuals for single strand chains are identical to conventional sprockets. Nevertheless, sprockets for many strand chains are unique from standard sprockets in sprocket tooth profile.
three. Other sprockets
Other sprockets are built in accordance to the following calculation formulas to suit respective specialty chains.
The sprockets applied for your following chains are the similar since the standard sprockets in tooth gap kind, but unique in tooth thickness (sprocket tooth profile).
4. Calculation of sprocket dimensions
The dimensions of regular sprockets and various standard sprockets are calculated as follows. To start with, the diameters of sprockets are calculated from your following calculation formulas.
Next, sprocket tooth profile (the shape on the tooth depending on its thickness) is calculated in the following calculation formulas. (The values shown while in the following pages have been calculated by these formulas and regarded as the conventional values.)
Calculation formulas for diameters and tooth gap varieties Calculation formulas for diameters
Calculation of pitch diameter, tip diameter and caliper diameter
The essential dimensions of a sprocket suitable to get a chain pitch of 1 mm are respectively referred to as pitch diameter element, tip diameter aspect and caliper diameter issue. The respective things for respective numbers of teeth are listed under. If these aspects are multiplied by chain pitch, the fundamental dimensions on the corresponding sprocket can be obtained.
Illustration:
Within the situation of 80 (25.40 mm pitch) with 35 teeth Pitch diameter (Dp) = P×Pitch diameter aspect
Calculation formulas for tooth gap kinds
Since the most rational tooth gap kinds in which the pressure angle changes in response to the elongation of a smoothly rotated roller chain together with the lapse of support time, ANSI specify two sorts of tooth profiles: U-type and S-type. Normally, S-type tooth profiles are adopted in accordance with ANSI, and our standard sprockets also have S-tooth profiles.
